If you spent one day a week answering noob questions on a message board or two (concentrate on the most active or prestigous ones if they exist) it could help establish you as an expert in your field. Follow it up with a book or articles, and you have a winner. I'm not even sure you'd need a blog, but that wouldn't hurt either. Maybe you could write about each problem you solved.
